Seville

Seville is known as the capital of Andalusia, and built on the banks of the River Guadalquivir, only 60km from the sea. It has many leafy squares where you can sit and enjoy some tapas and a glass of vino, whilst watching the world go by.

The Moors conquered Seville and left behind Seville's Moorish heritage. Evidence of the moors is visible in the Alcazar, a beautiful series of palaces, courtyards and gardens that rival the Alhambra Palace in Granada for their splendour.

In Seville you can also see the La Giralda (the minaret of the former mosque) as well as the Jewish quarter, which is hidden, behind the Cathedral in the Barrio de Santa Cruz which is the old Jewish area of the city. This area is an array of narrow picturesque streets, pretty houses with colourful window boxes and squares with pavement cafes.

The Porch of the Oranges (Patio de los Naranjos) is just a short distance from the Archives of the India.

Distance from Sabinillas: approx 165 miles / 265 km.
